South Carlina Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox News on Thursday that he will end the impeachment hoax ASAP in the Senate. He doesn’t need or want any witnesses. Calling anyone in to testify would only legitimize a clearly illegitimate attempt to overthrow the democratically elected president.
“I don’t need any witnesses at all. I am ready to go,” Graham said, according to The Epoch Times. “I don’t want to give it any legitimacy because it is a crock.”
“What I would like to see happen is for this thing to get over as soon as possible,” the chair of the House Judiciary Committee went on to say. He then explained that he trusted special investigator Robert Mueller. His decision not to file charges against President Trump means, Graham said, that it’s all a non-starter. “Every impeachment except this one has been conducted by outside counsel,” Graham said, which is one of the main reasons he plans to give it as little attention as possible.
“We can look at the Biden affair outside of impeachment. My goal is to end this as soon as possible for the good of the country. It’s a danger to the presidency to legitimize this,” he concluded.
Although there’s something to say for Graham’s strategy, PJ Media’s own Megan Fox explained Wednesday (when word got out that Graham didn’t want to call up any witnesses) that the conservative base disagrees. “Those of us who have seen through the charade want to see the madness end, but not without answers,” Fox rightfully wrote.
“If Republicans do not call witnesses, then they will be handing a public-relations win to the Democrats who blocked Republican congressmen from subpoenaing the witnesses at the congressional hearing,” she continued. “Yet again, the Republicans seem intent on letting the Democrats steal their lunch.”
This isn’t just about impeachment. This is about the dirty tricks used by Democrats, their allies in the media, and their friends in the intelligence and law enforcement communities. Add to that the controversy surrounding Hunter and Joe Biden, and you can only conclude that a real trial, including as many witnesses as possible, is exactly what the doctor ordered for President Trump and the Republican Party.
