Good Wednesday morning.
Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:
- The president and first lady deliver remarks at the Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta, Georgia
The presidential harassment beat
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin left little doubt Tuesday that the administration will reject a congressional request for President Donald Trump’s tax returns by a self-imposed May 6 target for a “final decision,” setting the stage for a legal battle that will test the limits of congressional oversight.
This is all part of an agreement among the House committees to harass the president.
In a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, Jordan demanded answers about why the Maryland Democrat’s execution of a nonpublic “Memorandum of Understanding” with Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., never came up with Republicans.
Jordan, the top Oversight Committee Republican, said the issue was never broached with GOP members until he found out.
Cummings vowed to share House Oversight Committee information with Waters in the covert agreement, even though doing so could conflict with House rules. Jordan said the agreement with Waters stipulated Cummings would consult her before issuing a subpoena.
All these subpoenas and investigations are a corruption of government power. It is a perversion of the authority bestowed on these rotten elected representatives to use the force of government to personally attack a political adversary or to undermine the president for political gain. If you don’t understand what kind of war has been waged by the Democrats, you aren’t paying attention.
What about the people who gave the House of Representatives to the Democrats? What have the Democrats delivered? Not a damn thing.
CRISIS: Trump snubs gutter media’s self-celebration festival
The folks who have lied and smeared Trump in front of America for almost three years will not be getting a visit from the president at the yearly event where they celebrate themselves.
Brian Stelter, commonly known as “Tater” among social media denizens, is up in arms, calling the snub an “attack against the media.” That’s a feature not a bug, Tater.
“Look, it’s yet another example of what we’re seeing- the administration’s attack against the media. It takes many forms,” Stelter told CNN’s Brooke Baldwin.
Brilliant: let the jailed, violent felons vote
What on earth? Have I missed the growing demand for letting those who have committed crimes against society cast a vote in our elections? Rapists, murderers, sexual assaulters, and pedophiles? It makes no sense to stand on this platform. Usually, politicians poll and focus group potential policy decisions. I can’t imagine the campaign tested this idea out.
Violent felon voting proponent Bernie is not backing down.
“Yes, I did get to speak to some voters, but I do want to say Bernie Sanders just wrapped up an event and he is not backing down from the issue at all,” NBC reporter Shaquille Brewster said. “I spoke a to senior campaign official who told me this is something the campaign plans to lean directly into. They see this as an opportunity to educate people on the Reconstruction Era of restrictions on felons’ ability to vote.”
“This is something that this official told me that really is going to expand on with hard substantive policy as they go to South Carolina,” Brewster continued.
Kamala, who initially said she thought we should “have a conversation” about letting incarcerated felons vote, has stepped back a bit.
Clean-up in the Town Hall Aisle: A day after saying she welcomed a “conversation” about inmates voting in jail, @KamalaHarris said today: “Do I think that people who commit murder, people who are terrorists should be deprived of their rights? Yeah, I do. I’m a prosecutor.”

Sounds like Kamala polled and focus-grouped the topic.
