  • Later in the afternoon, the president will depart the White House en route to Camp David where he will participate in a Congressional Republican Leadership Retreat.

I have a condensed version of the Briefing for you this morning.

The New York Times’ latest anonymously-sourced story on Mueller investigation

Here are the “gotcha” points:

  • Trump didn’t want Sessions to recuse himself
  • WH counsel Don McGahnn was dispatched to work over Sessions so he wouldn’t recuse
  • Mueller has notes of Priebus confirming Trump wanted Comey to publicly absolve him of fake media-generated RUSSIA charges
  • Trump was frustrated Comey would not publicly absolve as he had in private
  • Sessions’ aide sniffed around Congress for “dirt” on Comey
  • The first draft of Trump’s letter to Comey, written with Stephen Miler, mentioned the FBI’s fake RUSSIA investigation
