Trump Mocks Beto's 'Tiny Little Line' Ahead of Dueling Rallies in El Paso

President Trump couldn’t resist taking a swipe at potential presidential opponent Beto O’Rourke Monday during a White House meeting with sheriffs to discuss border security. O’Rourke and Trump were preparing to hold dueling rallies along the U.S.-Mexico border in O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso. The president talked about his upcoming rally after he and the sheriffs reiterated the need for a wall.

“We have a line that’s very long already,” he told reporters.

“I understand our competitor has a line too, but it’s a tiny little line,” Trump said. “They’ll make it sound like they had more people than we do. That won’t happen.”

O’Rourke is expected to speak at Chalio Acosta Sports Center around the same time the president is scheduled to take the stage at a rally in support of the wall at the El Paso County Coliseum, which is just a block away.

“The country will be watching, and it falls on all of us to tell the true story about the border,” O’Rourke said Sunday on Twitter.

The president claimed that 75,000 people had signed up to go to his rally, but said the arena could only hold 8,000 people.

“I like the old days when I was allowed to make outdoor speeches. It was a lot easier because you could have very big crowds,” Trump said.
