Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton a liar for claiming ISIS is using him in videos to recruit – and also took a shot at Clinton’s tardiness during Saturday night’s Democratic presidential debate.
After one of multiple breaks during the three-hour-long event, ABC began the debate round with just Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley at their podiums. Clinton walked out a few moments later with a quick “sorry.”
“What happened to her? No, she’s terrible. She’s terrible. ‘Donald Trump is on video and ISIS is using him on the video to recruit’ and it turned out to be a lie. She’s a liar. It turned out to be a lie and the last person that she wants to run against is me, believe me,” Trump told a campaign rally in Michigan on Monday.
Trump said he knew where Clinton went during the break.
“I know where she went, it’s disgusting, I don’t want to talk about it. No, it’s too disgusting. Don’t say it, it’s disgusting, let’s not talk, we want to be very, very straight up,” he said. “Wasn’t that a weird deal – we’re ready to start and they were looking. They gave her every benefit of the doubt because you know it’s ABC and she practically owns ABC, she really does.”
Trump also said Hillary got “schlonged” by Obama.
“Even a race to Obama, she was gonna beat Obama. I don’t know who would be worse, I don’t know, how could it be worse? But she was going to beat — she was favored to win — and she got schlonged, she lost, I mean she lost,” he said.
Clinton’s communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, tweeted this morning: “We are not responding to Trump but everyone who understands the humiliation this degrading language inflicts on all women should.”
Reacting to the amount of time President Obama has spent on the links, Trump said he does not have time for golf.
“Obama, it was reported today, played 250 rounds of golf and he’s going to be in Hawaii, I think did they say for three weeks? For three weeks. I don’t have time for that. I love golf, I think it’s one of the greats but I do not have time,” Trump told the rally.
“Two hundred and fifty rounds, that’s more than a guy who plays in the PGA Tour plays. He played more golf last year than Tiger Woods. No, think of this. We don’t have time for this. We have to work,” added Trump, who owns many golf courses.
It was reported over the summer that Obama had played nearly 250 rounds of golf since he became president.
“He talks about the carbon footprint and then he flies a really old 747 that spews out all sorts of – to Hawaii, right? What happened to the carbon footprint?” he said.
During the rally, Trump criticized the broadcast media for not showing shots of the crowds at his campaign events.
“They don’t turn them. Go ahead, turn them. Look, turn the camera, go ahead. Turn the camera ma’am,” Trump said. “Show them how many people come to these rallies.”
Some of the videographers eventually turned the cameras, which showed a packed house.
“Thank you – that’s the first time they have ever done that. Thank you. It’s the first time. Amazing because what is going on is amazing and I’m telling you, it’s a lovefest,” he said.
Trump told the crowd that a friend of his asked how he manages to attract large crowds for his campaign events.
“He said how do you do that because I don’t have a teleprompter, right? No teleprompter. I don’t want a teleprompter. You speak from the heart and the brain – very important,” he said. “I said you speak and it’s easy because there’s so much love in the room, there is love in every room, whether I am Oklahoma, whether I am in Dallas, whether I am in Iowa.”
