UPDATE: Tom Petty passed away at 8:40 pm PST. He was 66 years old.
Rock icon Tom Petty was rushed to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, CA, late last night, having suffered cardiac arrest. Though it was widely reported that he had died (apparently fueled by the Los Angeles Police Department), they are now saying that isn’t confirmed. We hope that he pulls through, but we thought it would be a good time to honor him anyway.
Filmed at the Westside Pavilion mall, the Casa de Cadillac dealership in Sherman Oaks, and other hotspots, this music video for the song “Free Fallin” embodies the Los Angeles spirit of the late 1980s. From his first solo album, this song is also Petty’s most popular.
Before he was a solo artist, Tom Petty also had tremendous success with his titular band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Their most popular song was “American Girl.”
