Keith Ellison Compares DACA Immigrants to Jewish Victims of the Holocaust

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) has had problems with anti-Semitism before: remaining associated with Louis Farrakhan and calling his law school colleagues mean slurs. But now he’s comparing undocumented immigrants to Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Discussing the DACA decision, Ellison said, “And if you ask yourself what would I do if I was a gentile in 1941, if my Jewish neighbors were under attack by the by the Nazis? Would I give them sanctuary? You might be about to find out what you would do.” Ellison, who was a candidate to lead the Democratic Party earlier this year, is saying that people who flee economic turmoil, predominantly in Latin America, are receiving equivalent treatment to Jews being mass murdered. That’s entirely dismissive of the actual plight that the Jews faced. When President Trump drew moral equivalency between neo-Nazis and their counter-protesters, most rational people were upset. The same must be true for Ellison. There is no moral equivalency between Dreamers and Holocaust victims. Period. The Democrats owe American Jews an explanation as to why they’re propping up this anti-Semitic mouthpiece, and Ellison owes everyone involved an apology.
