Kristen Bell Accidentally Stumbles Across a Flaw in a Liberal Talking Point

Kristen Bell (star of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Frozen) was trying to make a snarky, funny video for The Huffington Post about the gender pay gap. But she accidentally destroyed her own argument and demolished a couple liberal talking points at the same time.

She jokingly says that women can be paid 77 cents on the dollar as compared to men, so companies should hire women and pay them less. Um, yes… she says it sarcastically, but it’s a valid point. Liberals say that corporations are greedy, only-in-it-for-the-profit entities that don’t care at all about their employees. So the talking point goes: they treat their employees like crap in order to raise their bottom line and executives’ wealth. But they also say that women earn 77 cents on the dollar compared to men in the same positions and with the same experience level. So remove the snark and this video leaves us with an important question — if companies could actually get away with paying women so much less, then why don’t they hire only women? Why would a greedy company ever hire a man whom they’d have to pay more?!?

See, liberals can’t have it both ways. Either companies are soulless, demeaning, greedy places, or they’re sexist and committed to a gender pay gap. They can’t be both. And in actuality, they’re not really either.
