Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard delivered a speech at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event over the weekend and issued a warning about Islamist ideology that every single American needs to take to heart. With all the challenges we’ve faced within our own borders—whether the political divide threatening to tear us apart, a mending economy, illegal immigration, or any one of a million other issues—the threat radical Islam poses to our way of life has fallen through the cracks.
We may have pushed this issue aside, but Islamists around the world certainly have not. Islam is a religion built upon the idea of jihad, or holy war, and people wage it not only on battlefields or through terrorist activity with high body counts. Islamists also carry out jihad through infiltration and the slow, steady takeover of other cultures. Just look at the United Kingdom and other European nations.
Islamists have flooded into those countries in massive numbers and have begun invading all aspects of culture through engagement in public service, slowly transforming the very foundation of Western civilization into havens for Sharia law. How many violent stabbings and assaults have we seen on the news that radical Muslims carried out? The number is astounding.
During her talk, Gabbard told the audience in attendance, “The threats from Islamist ideology come in many forms. As we approach Christmas, right now in Germany they are canceling Christmas markets because of this threat.”
The world has faced this threat for millennia, dating all the way back to 600 AD, when the prophet Muhammad first founded the religion and quickly resorted to bloody murder as a primary means of pushing his twisted idea of “faith” on others around the world. A survey of the Crusades during the Medieval period reveals that war, violence, and cruelty have been—dare I say—a primary tenet of the Islamic religion from the very beginning.
Islam seeks world domination by any means necessary. Those who resist face only a few options. They can fight back and drive away the plague on humanity this ideology has proven to be, submit to Muslim rule and pay for the right to exist through the jizya tax, or die. The Western world—arguably the greatest civilization in history—will cease to exist if we continue to allow this invasion to proceed unchecked.
Gabbard herself went on to say that Islamic ideology stands in direct conflict with the ideals of American liberty. “When we talk about the threat of Islam, this political ideology, there is no such thing as individual freedom or liberty.”
She’s right on the money. Sharia law especially oppresses women. So why, then, do liberals so willingly go to bat for Islam? Aren’t they supposed to be the pro-woman party? Leftists have gone after Christianity with everything they’ve got for supposedly wanting to take away women’s rights by outlawing the murder of the unborn. How many times have they labeled Christians fascists or Nazis? Yet Christianity and its principles form the foundation for the liberty upon which our nation was built.
Islam, on the other hand, uses Sharia law as the foundation for social order and restricts education, work, and movement for women. Under Sharia, women must have a male guardian and cannot marry without his permission. In many interpretations, courts treat a woman’s testimony as worth half that of a man’s. Sons inherit twice as much as daughters.
These examples barely scratch the surface. The list of oppressive rules goes on and on. Under Sharia, freedom of religion does not exist. Neither does freedom of speech. Authorities would ban everything that makes our country the greatest in the world. You may think such a takeover sounds impossible, but the infiltration has already begun. Radical Islamic members of Congress now hold office. One even serves as mayor of one of the most important cities in the country—if not the world—New York City.
Muslim populations are exploding in Minnesota and Michigan, with many city governments almost completely taken over by Islamists who favor the tenets of Sharia law. While we distract ourselves with other issues, Islamic ideology continues to exert greater and greater influence on American law. If we want our country to exist for centuries to come, we must address this problem while we still can.
