A news anchor from Illinois decided to step down from her position on Monday, saying she has "no regrets" about her choice after her network made an "attempt to censor" her tear-soaked, on-air tribute to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Even local media outlets have fallen prey to wokeness, forsaking their sacred duty to objectively present people with the truth along with a variety of opinions and analysis.
Anchor Beni Rae Harmony said her employer punished her after she shared a non-partisan tribute to Kirk, who was assassinated last week, telling viewers it is "okay" to grieve his death and to "lean on your neighbors, speak up for what you believe in, I don't care what it is."
It's a message that rings loud and clear with bright, beautiful human decency. What network wouldn't want their on-air talent to express such sentiments? One that's far more dedicated to appeasing their left-wing masters and supplying them with left-wing propaganda.
Harmony took to social media, where she revealed that she had been "suspended" by WICS out of Springfield, Illinois, an affiliate of ABC News, following her tribute.
“When conversations stop happening, when individuals become wordless, that’s when violence begins,” Harmony said in her on-air tribute, using a quote made popular by Kirk. “So if you do one thing today, make it be with passion, with conviction, stand up for your friends, stand up for your beliefs and speak loudly even if your voice shakes. Your words have meaning, your values have purpose, never forget that.”
“Thank you CK, you changed my life,” Harmony added. She revealed that Kirk was her "mentor," her first ever boss, and the "first person who made me believe in myself."
When pressed for comment by the Daily Caller News Foundation, WICS did not respond.
Effective immediately, I have resigned from @WICS_ABC20 after being SUSPENDED for airing a non-partisan tribute to Charlie Kirk this past Friday.

“Many in the mainstream media have been fired or punished for mocking his assassination. I believe I am the first to be targeted for honoring him on air,” Harmony wrote in an X post announcing her resignation. “My resignation is guided by values that are essential to who I am, which I refuse to set aside in order to keep a job. I choose my faith and love of country, and always will.”
“I have no regrets for resigning from WICS following their attempt to censor my tribute to Charlie Kirk,” Harmony said in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “While some in the liberal media like MSNBC immediately smeared him, I chose to take a different route and honor him, and WICS suspended me for it.”
“I never told anyone to vote a certain way or subscribe to a certain ideology,” Harmony added. “I simply said it is okay to feel grief and sadness for a fellow American who was assassinated for engaging in the free exchange of ideas on a college campus. My values are more important than begging for a job with a network that cares more about its left-wing owners than its own humanity. I like to think that Charlie would be proud of me for standing up to them, and that’s all the peace of mind I need.”
Kirk, who founded one of the most popular and effective conservative organizations in the country, Turning Point USA, was assassinated last Wednesday at an event held at Utah Valley University. Since then, many individuals on the left have engaged in egregious celebration of Kirk's murder, leading to many losing their jobs or being suspended from their places of employment.
The sickening posts and videos made by many on the left have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that there are a lot of voices on the radical liberal side of the spectrum who want to see those who disagree with their worldview permanently silenced, even if it takes a horrendous act of violence to do so.
