Yes, Lady Macbeth herself is back, still seeking electoral salvation and wondering how she can be meaningful. She might try just going away gracefully, but that obviously is not within her power:
Hillary Clinton has been scouting around for a role in the 2018 midterm elections, according to reports. Clinton has already founded a PAC focusing on gunning for congressional Democratic candidates in 2018. She is studying up on the House districts she won in the 2016 presidential election against President Trump, The Hill reported. Of Republican districts, 23 voted for Clinton over Donald Trump in 2016.
Which of course means that they’ll vote exactly the same way next year, right?
“Everything will change if we win in 2018,” Clinton said at the Code Conference in May. “We have to flip 24 seats. I won 23 districts that have a Republican Congress member, seven of them are in California.” Democratic strategists think Clinton can give the party a boost during a time when Democrats are struggling with messaging.
That’s because they don’t have a message, other than their inability to accept what happened in 2016. But Hillary has a bright future — if she wants it — in the theater. Coaching courtesy of Dame Judi Dench:
The raven himself is hoarseThat croaks the fatal entrance of DuncanUnder my battlements. Come, you spiritsThat tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,And fill me from the crown to the toe top-fullOf direst cruelty. Make thick my blood.Stop up the access and passage to remorse,That no compunctious visitings of natureShake my fell purpose, nor keep peace betweenThe effect and it! Come to my woman’s breasts,And take my milk for gall, you murd’ring ministers,Wherever in your sightless substancesYou wait on nature’s mischief. Come, thick night,And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell,That my keen knife see not the wound it makes,Nor heaven peep through the blanket of the darkTo cry “Hold, hold!”
