To Judgmental Christians: Stop It! Just Enjoy Kanye West's New Album 'Jesus Is King'

Is there anything more obnoxious and tiring than a bunch of self-declared Christian saints telling other people that they’re not behaving Christian enough? Just look at some reactions from these supposed angels to Kanye West’s new album “Jesus Is King” and to the private concerts he has given so far. One supposed uber-Christian complains that Kanye’s behavior causes her to be mocked for her faith. Another self-righteous Twitter-user uses Kanye’s past against him and declares him half-Christian — at best.

Oh my. How these folks know how a Christian should behave, what music he should make… Heck, they even seem to think that they know whether someone has truly “been born again,” as evangelicals are fond of saying, or whether it’s all merely an act.

It’s extremely disturbing and hypocritical too. Something about removing the log from your own eye before commenting on the speck in someone else’s eye. Does that ring a bell?

Anyone?

Seriously. It doesn’t get much more annoying than one Christian (or Muslim for that matter!) telling another Christian (or Muslim) that they aren’t Christian (or Islamic) enough. How about we all leave the judging to God, while we just do our best to be good people here on earth?

What’s more, there’s a reason that “Jesus Is King” is topping the charts: Kanye West truly made a very good album. I’ve listened to it four times now on Tidal, and honestly, West has once again proved himself to be one of the most creative and innovative members of the entire hip-hop scene. It’s a very short album — 27 minutes in all — but that takes nothing away from its quality.

“Jesus Is King” is simply a joy to listen to… and yes, that’s regardless of whether you actually consider yourself a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew, a Buddhist or an atheist. This is great music. The end.

It’s a shame that some holier-than-thou professional complainers are so obsessed with judging others that they can’t even enjoy such an obviously great album.

Ah well. Let them judge. At least the rest of us have some great new songs to listen to while on our drive to work or our walk in the park.
