Trans ideology depends on one thing to survive, and it’s not hormones or transition surgeries. The truth is, the whole system requires everyone else to play along. You’ve got to use preferred pronouns, let them use the bathrooms and locker rooms they want, and generally assure them that they are what they think they are.
That is exactly why it is a lie when you’re told there’s no harm in “affirming” someone’s gender identity. The real cost is a culture that demands compliance over honesty. And worse yet, they treat anyone who refuses to play along as the problem.
Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds provided a near-perfect demonstration on Friday. I was already a fan of the congressman, but watching him calmly stand his ground against a pair of unhinged protesters led me to donate to his gubernatorial campaign.
Donalds was answering a question when a male protester who identifies as a woman took issue with how he was addressed. "Sir, as a member of Congress," Donalds began, before getting cut off.
"I'm not a sir, I'm a ma'am!" the protester said.
And I’m a billionaire.
It’s easy to say things you want to be true that aren’t.
Anyway, Donalds kept going without bothering to correct himself. "As a member of Congress, I voted to actually release those files," he continued, presumably referring to the Epstein files, but the available video doesn’t offer full context.
That’s when a second protester lost it over the pronoun. "Are you f*****g kidding me!?" the protester yelled. "Are you f*****g kidding me?! Calling her 'sir'?! What the f**k is wrong with you?"
Donalds offered a simple explanation. "I'm listening to the voice in my ears," he said.
"What the f**k is wrong with you?!" the second protester repeated.
Then the trans-identifying protester chimed back in. "Because you don't see the rest of me, right?"
The second protester followed up with an even louder outburst. "You can see a woman there! What the f**k is wrong with you, you piece of s**t!”
Byron: "Sir..." Trans person: "I'm not a sir. I'm a MA'AM." Another meme is born courtesy of Florida's next Governor. 🤣 https://t.co/qagxdPoHr9

Watch the video. Do you see a woman there? I don’t. And clearly, Donalds could see him just fine. That was the whole problem.
Activists love to complain that trans people lack visibility. But a recent YouGov survey suggests we’re seeing too much trans. Americans estimated that transgender people make up 21% of the population, when the real number is 0.6%. They also pegged gays and lesbians at 30% (actually 3%) and bisexuals at 29% (actually 4%). That means Americans overestimate bisexuals by 7.25 times, gays and lesbians by 10 times, and transgender people by a staggering 35 times. A group suffering from invisibility doesn't usually get overcounted by a factor of 35.
ICYMI: There’s a Huge Reason Why You Shouldn't Believe the Midterm Polls
Personally, I've rarely seen a transgender person in public. And let's be honest, here: you can tell. Most of the time, it's pretty obvious. Long hair framing blatantly male faces and voices doesn't make it hard to tell.
There's nothing genuinely feminine about Bruce "Caitlyn" Jenner's face. Richard "Rachel" Levine, the former assistant secretary for health, is a terrible cosplay of a woman. Even Dylan Mulvaney, with all of his feminization surgeries, doesn't look genuinely female.
Yet trans people, no matter how hard they try to present as the opposite sex, expect the rest of us to affirm their delusion anyway.
Sorry, not going to happen.
The real problem for trans-identifying people is that we can see them for exactly what they are: males playing dress-up as women. All the plastic surgery and hormone treatments in the world can't change that, and I'm not about to pretend otherwise just to be nice. I still use male pronouns for Jenner and Levine, because they are men. I still refer to Ellen "Elliot" Page as a woman, because she is a woman.
Congrats to Donalds for not caving. A movement that only survives on everyone else's cooperation has no real answer for the person who quietly withholds it. He didn't shout back or deliver a lecture. He just kept talking like a sane man in a room full of people demanding he say something false, and the meltdown that followed revealed more about the demand than any argument could.
Never give in.
