Whenever a Bill Burr clip pops up during one of my doomscrolling sessions, I end up watching it. The guy is funny, and for a self-described lefty, he has a knack for saying things that make woke activists break out in hives and go crying to their birthing persons.
The last time I wrote about Burr, he had a new Netflix special in which he tore into the WNBA and the women who claim to champion it but never bother to buy a ticket.
"Look at the WNBA: they have been playing in front of 300 to 400 people a night for a quarter of a century. Not to mention, it's a male-subsidized league. We gave you a league and none of you showed up," he said. "Where are all the feminists? That place should be packed with feminists — faces painted, wearing jerseys, going f**king nuts like the guys do! None of you went to the f**king games. You failed them. Not me. Not men — women failed the WNBA. Ladies, name your top five WNBA players of all time. Name five WNBA teams. Name the WNBA team in your city. You can't do it!"
He's taken shots at gender ideology, too.
"What do you mean, men can get pregnant? What the f**k are they talking about?" Burr asked. "As a lefty, I don't understand."
When Disney fired Gina Carano, his former co-star on The Mandalorian, Burr called the decision unfair. "I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point," he said. "They just use outrage because they don't like your politics."
I'll give him credit for all of that. Most of Hollywood cowers in fear of the outrage mob, and Burr has repeatedly thumbed his nose at it. But ditching the pronoun nonsense doesn't cure anyone of radical leftism. Scratch the surface, and the same ugly worldview is sitting right underneath.
Burr just proved it. In a Rolling Stone interview published Tuesday, he suggested that UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and other executives targeted for violence brought it on themselves.
Luigi Mangione gunned down Thompson, a husband and father of two, on a Midtown Manhattan sidewalk in December 2024.
"The response to the Luigi thing was not to be like, 'Well, hey, maybe we need to look at what we're doing if what we're doing makes some crazy person do this.' Their [the executives'] response was to take their faces off of the internet and get security," Burr said.
He kept going from there, literally blaming these CEOs for worrying that they may be targets of copycats.
"It's like, you don't think you need to examine? You know what I mean? It's like, you're not the president. You're just the CEO of a business. Why do you need this level of security? Like, what is it that you're doing?" Burr asked.
A man was executed in cold blood, his kids lost their father, and Burr's big takeaway is that the victim's peers should do some soul-searching.

Apparently, Burr has been down this road before, which I didn’t know about. Days after the assassination, he told listeners of his Monday Morning Podcast that he was satisfied that “f**king CEOs are f**king afraid right now," and added that they "should be."
I'll admit that I'm disappointed. I wanted Burr to be proof that a sane wing of the left still exists, one that can laugh at woke absurdities and be more like how the left was in the 1990s.
In the end, the leftists of 2026, even if they’re anti-woke, are still leftists.
