There was once a time when I actually thought it would be cool to visit places like San Francisco, Seattle, and even Portland. I’ve never been to any of them, and there’s still part of me that would like to… one day. Right now? Heck no. New York City I’ve been to quite a few times, but, for obvious reasons, I have no intention of going back any time soon. Even Boston, a city I once worked in and enjoyed bar-hopping, doesn’t feel safe to be in anymore.
The United Kingdom, a destination that has long been on my list of places to visit, seems like a place that isn’t at all attractive to go to right now. The common thread tying these places together is painfully obvious: leftist governance has turned them into shadows of their former selves, plagued by crime, disorder, and a creeping sense that the people in charge have lost their minds.
I’m certainly not alone in thinking so.
Elon Musk has been sounding the alarm about what’s happening in the UK, and his latest warnings invoke none other than J.R.R. Tolkien. Musk compared peaceful British citizens to the hobbits of the Shire, blissfully unaware of the dangers encroaching on their nation. “When Tolkien wrote about the hobbits, he was referring to the gentlefolk of the English shires, who don’t realize the horrors that take place far away,” Musk wrote. I haven’t read the books but I trust is his assessment is correct. “They were able to live their lives in peace and tranquility, but only because they were protected by the hard men of Gondor,” he continued. Musk's comments came in response to a horrific attack in Uxbridge, where an Afghan migrant stabbed and killed man for walking his dog. Two others were injured in the attack, including a 14-year-old boy.
“What happened to the nice man who was brutally murdered while walking his dog will happen to all of England if the tide of illegal immigration is not turned,” Musk warned.

They were able to live their lives in peace and tranquility, but only because they were protected by the hard men of Gondor.… https://t.co/xqnp48IXvU
The British government, like so many other leftist administrations, has decided that the risk of being labeled racist or xenophobic is far worse than allowing its citizens to be victimized by preventable crimes. Rather than addressing the glaring failures of its immigration policies, the government has doubled down on disarming and silencing its own people—a recipe for disaster.

Would you feel safe visiting San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, New York, Boston—or even parts of the United Kingdom—right now? For many, the answer is a troubling no. And yet, the voters in these places keep reelecting the very leaders who allow crime to spiral out of control, all in the name of “diversity” and “tolerance.” These politicians are so paralyzed by the fear of being called intolerant that they’d rather watch their constituents suffer than confront reality. Nothing about this makes sense. Their commitment to an ideology has become more important than the safety and well-being of the people they are supposed to serve—and they refuse to see how clearly it’s failing.
Wokeness has become a straightjacket for leaders who should be protecting the people they serve. Instead, they’re more concerned with optics than outcomes, more worried about social media backlash than actual safety. The result is a slow-motion collapse of once-great cities and countries, all because the people in charge refuse to do what’s necessary out of fear they’ll be branded with the wrong label. It’s a tragic, infuriating waste, and unless something changes, even more places will become unsafe.
