It’s astonishing to watch the mainstream media’s selective memory in action. They’re scrambling to rewrite history, insisting that Joe Biden never weaponized the Justice Department against President Donald Trump. After indictments hit James Comey and Letitia James, suddenly Biden is portrayed as above politics—never seeking to prosecute Trump, never politicizing the DOJ. The audacity of this historical revision makes George Orwell look like an amateur.
Kristen Welker, playing her part perfectly, suggested on Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press that indicting Letitia James somehow "crosses a line between the Justice Department being independent from the executive branch." Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wasn't having it. He reminded Welker that she sure didn't seem concerned when James fabricated a bogus crime to target Trump. Funny how that selective outrage works.
Graham laid out the reality with refreshing bluntness. "Biden regretted that they didn't do it before the election," he said. "Jack Smith surveilled my phone records and eight other Senators. Jack Smith introduced his brief against Trump on October the 24th, before the 2024 election, violating every protocol just to politicize the election. So this may bother you that people are being held accountable. It doesn't bother me one damn bit."

He's absolutely right. Last year, after the election, we learned that Biden deeply regretted appointing Merrick Garland as attorney general because, in his warped view, Garland moved too slowly in prosecuting Trump. Biden believed that sluggish pace helped pave Trump's path back to the White House. That's not the thinking of someone who respected DOJ independence. That's someone frustrated his political weapon wasn't sharp enough to stop Trump’s return to office—a tacit admission that that was the entire point of the lawfare strategy against Trump.
ICYMI: Poor Joe Biden Is Struggling to Adapt to Private Life
Biden privately told aides he should have picked someone else, with former Sen. Doug Jones floated as a more politically effective option for navigating partisan waters. That's quite the admission from someone who publicly claimed he selected Garland to restore integrity and independence after the Trump years. Garland's whole selling point was his reputation for fairness and impartiality. We knew that wasn’t the case, of course, and Garland spent four year doing Joe Biden’s bidding… but in the end, it wasn’t enough to succeed against Trump.
Biden's regrets about Garland expose the entire charade. His administration absolutely tried to weaponize the Justice Department, and the mainstream media wants us to pretend it never happened, that Biden’s Justice Department never targeted Trump or his associates. Not only did they target them, Biden wished they'd done it better. Now the media wants us to forget all that and clutch our pearls over accountability finally coming for those who abused their power.
Not happening.
The media’s rewrite of history is outrageous. They are actively pretending that Joe Biden never weaponized the Justice Department against Trump and his allies. Now, when Democrats like Letitia James face accountability, the press suddenly feigns outrage over “independence.” This isn’t oversight—it’s gaslighting, and they clearly think the American people won’t notice.
