For many, the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey marked the start of long-overdue accountability for someone who weaponized the bureau against President Trump. Yet the left wants to believe this is Trump weaponizing justice against an enemy. Comey, of course, is quick to cast himself as a martyr, but make no mistake—he’s not the victim.
In response to his indictment, Comey spun his familiar tale: “My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump.” He portrayed himself as a heroic resistor, declaring, “We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either.” Borrowing from a loved one, which probably originally came in shell form on a beach somewhere, he added, “Fear is the tool of a tyrant, and she’s right. But I’m not afraid, and I hope you’re not either.” He urged engagement and voting “like your beloved country depends upon it” and claimed “great confidence in the federal judicial system.” Yet it’s difficult to swallow the victim card from a man who once acted more like a kingpin running the FBI than a defender of justice.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) promptly popped Comey’s victimhood balloon with cold, hard facts.
During an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News Thursday night, Graham cut to the chase by noting how the media and political establishment treat anyone who opposes Trump. “Everybody who stands up to Trump gets cheered on as a hero,” Graham said, adding that “every accusation against Trump that’s bad for him is assumed to be true.”
Graham argued that there’s been no accountability for those who tried to damage Trump personally and politically. He questioned whether there’s “any cost in this country… for lying to a court to push a warrant that you know is really not accurate.” According to Graham, he directly asked the officials who signed the warrant applications if they would do it again knowing what they know now. “They all said no,” he emphasized, because his own investigations, along with those of others, “proved it to be just complete BS.”

The senator called the Steele dossier “hearsay… bar talk… made up garbage by people associated with the Clinton campaign.” He pressed the key question: Did these officials withhold critical information from the court? Specifically, Graham pointed out that the FBI had interviewed the primary source for Christopher Steele’s information in January 2017. That source reportedly told the FBI the claims were unreliable and shouldn’t be used in legal proceedings.
“I know the FBI knew that,” Graham said, yet “Comey got the warrant twice more and never told the court that we have information now that the man who provided stuff to Steele is recanting.”

Graham’s response exposes the truth: Comey isn’t a fearless defender of justice paying a personal cost—he’s a central figure in one of the most blatant abuses of power in recent memory. Now he wants to play the victim to escape responsibility. This isn’t courage; it’s a cover-up. And Comey still owes the country answers.
It’s telling that the same people who cheered every bogus allegation against Trump now bristle at Comey facing scrutiny of his own. Comey isn’t being persecuted; he’s finally being exposed for what he is, and America should not let the left rewrite this chapter of history.
