Earlier this week, President Trump signed a landmark executive order targeting runaway prescription drug prices. Regardless of what you may think of it, it is arguably one of the most ambitious reforms in decades. But the most revealing part wasn’t the policy itself—it was how quickly Democrats exposed their own hypocrisy. Regardless of where you stand on the order, Trump once again forced his opponents to trip over their own hypocrisy.
Make no mistake about it, this executive order would deliver massive cost savings to all Americans, particularly seniors and those living on fixed incomes. Estimates put the saving as high as 90 percent for certain drugs. Right now, Americans are stuck paying more for prescription drugs than any other developed country. So, this is the kind of reform that both parties used to pretend to support. But now that Trump’s actually doing something about it? Suddenly, the same Democrats who praised Joe Biden's efforts to lower drug prices are now throwing a tantrum because Trump is actually getting it done.
The same crowd that constantly talks about “helping the vulnerable” is now shrugging at a plan that does exactly that—just because it came from Trump.
Rather than celebrating this win for the American people, Democrats are showing once again that their Trump Derangement Syndrome knows no bounds.
This is nothing more than a flashy press release from Donald Trump.

Trump should put his weight behind a bill so we can actually lower drug prices.
Instead, he and Republicans in Congress are plotting to rip away health coverage from millions of Americans. https://t.co/lbCCuH86kX
Of course, she was singing a much different tune back in 2023:
Today, @POTUS took a critical step to cut costs and rein in abuses by Big Pharma, which has raked in billions by raising prices for drugs that taxpayers paid to develop. Big Pharma will no longer have a free pass to hike prices for drugs that benefitted from public dollars. https://t.co/4uMkPFCkrk

Not even Bernie Sanders (S-Vt.) seems to be a fan of lower drug prices.
If Trump is serious about making real change rather than just issuing a press release, he will support legislation I will introduce to ensure we pay no more for prescription drugs than people in other major countries.

If we come together, we can get it passed in a few weeks. pic.twitter.com/GtJC2aWSby
Let's be honest here: If Trump announced tomorrow that he had discovered a cure for cancer, Democrats would probably protest that he was putting oncologists out of work. If Trump came out in support of abortion, would Democrats suddenly be pro-life? Their opposition has nothing to do with policy and everything to do with their pathological hatred of Donald Trump.
The reality is undeniable: Americans pay more for prescription drugs than any other developed nation. President Trump’s executive order confronts this problem head-on, delivering a bold solution that could provide real relief—especially for seniors and working families who are hit hardest by soaring prices. It’s exactly the kind of reform Democrats have spent years claiming to support.
But now that Trump is the one delivering it, their support vanishes. Instead of standing with the American people, Democrats are once again proving that their only consistent principle is opposing Trump at all costs. The moment he takes decisive action to lower drug prices, they reflexively backpedal. Their knee-jerk opposition makes one thing clear: If helping Americans means giving Trump a win, they’d rather let the country suffer. That’s the sad reality of today’s Democratic Party.
