Donald Trump Questions the Motives Behind the Antisemitic Campus Riots

While unhinged antisemitic leftist students have been raising hell on college campuses across the country with violent anti-Israel protests, former President Donald Trump is openly questioning whether it is all a smokescreen. On Wednesday, Trump called out the riots, speculating that the chaos they are causing is intentionally meant to divert attention from the Biden administration's catastrophic border policies.

"Do you think that the Radical Left Lunatics that are causing all of the CHAOS at our Colleges and Universities are doing so in order to take the FOCUS away from our Southern Border, where millions of people, many from prisons and mental institutions, are pouring into our Country? Just askin’…???" Trump asked in a post on Truth Social.

It's an interesting question, but I think he gives the Democrats too much credit. At UCLA, the situation spiraled so out of control that officials warned the campus was "no longer safe" as police in riot gear had to be called in to stop the hours of violence between the anti-Israel agitators and pro-Israel counter-protesters around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

"This violence has to stop immediately," Trump told Fox News Digital. "Weak and ineffective leadership at colleges and universities must be replaced, and fast."

It certainly would make sense for the left to manufacture distractions when they have utterly failed on the issues that voters care about most: the economy, crime, and illegal immigration. But I don’t think these riots make Joe Biden look better. It isn’t working anyway.

As these campus riots continue, polls show immigration remains the top concern of the American people for the third straight month. Fox News Digital notes that the latest Gallup survey found that 27% of Americans view it as the biggest problem facing the nation — a 24-year high. In other words, Americans aren't distracted.

The Biden administration's open borders agenda has been a devastating failure, allowing record-shattering numbers of illegal aliens, including many criminals, to pour across our borders unchecked. The last thing Democrats want is for voters to focus on this crisis as we head into the 2024 presidential election, but the chaos on college campuses under Biden’s watch isn’t exactly helpful for him either.

Still, it's refreshing that, unlike Biden, Trump unequivocally condemned the "violent anti-Israel protests" and demanded that the "weak and ineffective leadership" enabling this anarchy on campuses "must be replaced, and fast." From where I sit, that only helps Trump.

Democrats often predicted and claimed that racism and antisemitism would surge under Trump, but instead, they've surged under Biden — so much so that Jewish students at Columbia were advised to leave campus and return home for their own safety. Under Biden, America looks increasingly like 1930s Germany.

The real distraction is the left's persistent efforts to put abortion on the ballot in various states. Abortion is an issue that polls show isn't very high on most voters' priority lists, but Democrats are hoping they can use it to increase the turnout of angry single leftist women and give Biden a chance in the battleground states where he's currently losing.
