How Clueless Is the Left About the Backlash Against Biden’s Immigration Policy?

Earlier this year, the White House figured out that Biden’s border crisis was a major political problem for him. Polls showed illegal immigration surpassing the economy as the top concern for American voters, and that voters overwhelmingly trusted Donald Trump more to handle this issue.

That wasn’t particularly shocking. Heck, before Biden took office, illegal immigrants began flocking to the southern border, knowing they would be welcomed instead of deported. Illegal crossings surged, “catch and release” was restored, and the secure southern border Donald Trump gave us is now gone.

Even Democrat-led sanctuary cities that used to virtue signal their opposition to Trump's immigration policies had an epiphany about the need for border security as they struggled to handle the influx of immigrants they claimed they would welcome with open arms, and they weren’t too thrilled with the crime the brought with them either.

Naturally, rather than admitting that he was wrong for creating the border crisis, Biden attempted to blame Republicans for it.

All evidence shows that those efforts haven’t worked. But, one thing is clear, the White House is keenly aware they backed themselves into a corner, and it could cost Biden the election in November.

The liberal media, however, hasn’t quite had the same epiphany. On Wednesday, CNN analyst Harry Enten discussed how Donald Trump has experienced a surge of support from Hispanic voters.

Citing a Marquette University Law School poll, Enten revealed how the immigration issue is helping Trump with Hispanic voters.

"Now, you might think you know that Hispanic voters might be the types of folks who would have a backlash against Donald Trump's remarks, right? Ain't the case. If you ask Hispanic voters, who do they trust more on border security and immigration? Overwhelmingly, they trust Donald Trump more, by a tremendous margin," Enten pointed out. "Look at that: 49% to 24%. And that is in line with what we’re seeing in the polls in general amongst Hispanics, right?"

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper appeared almost catatonic while listening to him explain what the data says.

"Joe Biden won them overwhelmingly back in 2020 and won by over 20 percentage points," Enten continued. "Democrats normally carry them overwhelmingly. If you look at the polling right now, in an average of polling amongst Hispanic voters, who did they choose in the ballot test? It’s barely Biden, Biden by about two points."

“It would be the smallest margin for any Democratic candidate among Hispanic voters, basically throughout history since we started pulling the gosh darn thing,” Enten concluded. "So the fact is, at this point, there's no backlash and at this point, I don't see one coming."

Cooper's stunned reaction is so telling here. The left has long believed that Trump's rhetoric is racist and that there ought to be a huge backlash against it. But the real backlash is happening with Biden, whose policies have hurt too many people for the masses to ignore.
