Biden Problems With Minorities Are Worse Than We Thought

We've been covering the collapse of Joe Biden's poll numbers for months now. But Biden isn't just losing swing voters; he's losing support from once reliable voting blocs, particularly nonwhite voters.

Patrick Ruffini, a pollster for Echelon Insights, noted back in November that polling has shown the "Democratic coalition completely falling apart," as Trump and Biden "are within single digits with Hispanic voters, and Trump gets a stunning 22% of the black vote."

On Sunday, Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) revealed that he's "very concerned" about Biden's standing with black voters.

"Well, I'm not worried, I'm very concerned," he said. "I have no problem with the Biden administration and what it has done. My problem is we have not been able to break through that MAGA wall in order to get to people exactly what this president has done."

“This president is keeping his promises,” he claimed, insisting that the problem is “people keep focusing on the one or two things he did not get accomplished.”

That's a cute story, but it fails to acknowledge reality. Polls have shown that traditionally Democrat-leaning demographics have been shifting toward Trump largely over one key issue: the economy. Why? Because voters recognize that Biden's policies have been hurting them while also remembering that under Trump, things were significantly better.

People vote with their wallets; what can I say?

But Biden's current problems with minorities are even worse we previously thought. According to a report from Semafor, Biden's campaign is having a problem recruiting black surrogates to help promote the campaign's message to black voters.

“I think the Biden administration needs to be thoughtful about surrogates,” Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee told the outlet. “I mean, you look at a place like Texas, where you have one of the largest Black populations in the United States, there aren’t a bunch of Biden administration champions running around.”

The outlet noted that "The party has struggled to replicate Obama-era turnout and margins with Black voters since 2016, and there are some signs in recent surveys that Biden risks a further erosion in support." The article points to a recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll showing that Biden's support from black voters has tanked, going from 87% in 2020 to 63% today.

While it's obvious that there are legitimate reasons why voters of any background are ditching Biden, his allies have deluded themselves into thinking that Biden's message isn't getting across. The new secretary of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, Frederick Nickens, had an interesting suggestion about how to win them back.

“If enough people are telling you something, you might want to start to believe it," he told Semafor.

Boy, that sounds an awful lot like, "Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth," doesn't it? Unfortunately for them, there's little the Democrats can do since all the talking points in the world won't alter the public's perception of the economy. That's why Joe Biden's "Bidenomics" messaging has failed, and that's why the campaign's propaganda scheme to win back black voters won't work either.
