Fisher, 60, was rushed to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics shortly after noon, after her flight arrived at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

“Our thoughts are with our customer at this time,” read a statement by United Airlines.

LAX police officers responded to Terminal 7 at around 12:15 p.m., for a female passenger in cardiac arrest. On arrival, they found paramedics performing CPR on Fisher, according to Officer Alicia Hernandez.

Fisher, who became famous since her role in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), has played Princess Leia in at least four movies, including The Force Awakens (2015). A CGI version of her acting in the 1977 film was featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), which released this month to impressive box office results.

The actress has a long history of health problems. She has publicly discussed her diagnosis of bipolar disorder, along with her addictions to cocaine and prescription medication.

Well wishes for the actress poured out over social media.

Some expressed hope that Fisher, who has struggled with many health problems before, should be able to pull through.
