Shoes Fly, Fans Flee, as Kanye West Defends Trump, Says He'd Have Voted for Him

The mercurial hip hop hero is known for both his outlandish ego and outrageous comments. Is it real … or is it performance art writ large?

Normally, it’s not worth investigating. That isn’t the case this week.

West went on an epic rant Thursday sure to anger progressives everywhere. Along the way, he spoke some universal truths that, frankly, many need to hear.

The 40-minute speech happened in the middle of a concert, bad news for the “shut up and sing” contingent of West fans. Turns out West didn’t bother voting on Election Day. But if he did, he knows who he’d want for president.

If I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump. I wanted to say that before the election, but they told me, “Whatever you do, don’t say that aloud.”

That sounds about right, no?

Not only did I not vote, but there were a lot of things I actually liked about Trump’s campaign. His approach was f***ing genius – because it worked.

The pro-Trump comments earned him some boos from the crowd. A few fled the arena in disgust. Some allege a fight broke out among his fans. Other crowd members threw shoes and more up toward the rapper. That didn’t stop him.

He went on, saying that black people must stop focusing on race in society … even though the world is a racist nation.

Maybe Mr. Kim Kardashian thinks Trump will be weak competition for him. After all, West announced he was running for president in the 2020 campaign, a vow he has since renewed.

West’s most intriguing comments had little to do with President-elect Trump. Instead, they spoke to a fractured nation eager to drop the gloves over the wrong tweet.

I just said that I would have voted for Trump and then I did a song and ya’ll sang it at the top of your lungs. That doesn’t mean that you’re a Trump supporter, that just means you’re okay with a celebrity having their own opinion, or that someone else is okay to have their own opinion that might not be your opinion, but you can still like that person or that person’s music.

The comments come just days after Tom Hanks said he was not only rooting for Trump to succeed but that he’d vote for him personally should he actually “make America great again.”

The Chicago Cubs just won the World Series. A reality show star is our next president. And Kanye West said something we all should seriously consider.
