All of you moms out there will probably be able to identify with this story, at least on some level. Ada Keating, 98, recently moved into Moss View care home in Liverpool, England. While she did need some extra care, she made the move first and foremost for another reason: to care for her eldest son, Tom, who was living there.
Tom, 80, moved into Moss View in 2016. Every day, his mother greets him when he wakes up, and then goes to his room to say good night at the end of the day. According to Bored Panda, Ada said, “When I go out to the hairdressers he’ll look for me to see when I’m coming back. When I get back he’ll come to me with his arms outstretched and give me a big hug.”
Prior to moving into the facility, Tom worked as a painter and decorator. Ada, who had four children with her late husband, Harry, spent her life working as an auxiliary nurse. Now that the mother and son are living under the same roof again for the first time in several years, they are inseparable and enjoy watching television and playing games together.
Philip Daniels, the manager of Moss View, said, “It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs….It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.”
Ada said, “You never stop being a mum.” That’s a sentiment that most any mother can attest to.
