A toddler in a daycare in Muskegon, Mich., has died, and police believe an 8-year-old is to blame. One-year-old Korey Brown was brought to Keysha Keepers by his mother, along with two other children on Thursday night. When she returned on Friday after work, she found her baby, whose body had been hidden in one of the bedrooms in the home daycare, in a Pack ‘n Play.
Reasonover told Fox News that Korey had bite marks and bruises on his face:
“When his face rolled over he had all these bruises on the side of his face,” she told Fox 17. “And that’s when I said, ‘What’s wrong with my baby’s face?””
A 911 call was placed at 6:15 a.m. Friday, WZZM 13 reported, but CPR was not successful. Police said the 8-year-old was taken to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus for a mental evaluation.
Police are investigating where the adults were in the home at the time of the alleged incident and said that an autopsy to determine the official cause of death is planned.
Police believe that the baby might have been crying and that the 8-year-old involved tried to stop it or help in some way. The primary witness in the ongoing investigation is a 5-year-old. The daycare, which was licensed towards the end of 2016, is open 24 hours a day.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the family’s funeral expenses. You can donate here.
