Elizabeth Warren: On Second Thought, Daenerys Targaryen Stinks

WARNING: This post contains spoilers for the series finale of Game of Thrones. Be advised, nerd.

Last week I told you about Elizabeth Warren’s love for Daenerys Targaryan from Game of Thrones. Warren wrote a whole essay about how awesome the Breaker of Chains is, just a few weeks before Dany went completely bonkers and nuked a bunch of women and children with her fire-breathing dragon.

I wondered if Liz was having second thoughts since last week’s not-so-shocking heel turn, and yesterday an intrepid reporter asked her:

“I’m so blue about Daenerys. Ya know, what can I say? She’s not the best choice now… It’s gonna be bad tonight. I’m trying to figure out who is gonna be on the Iron Throne. But it sure as heck can’t be Daenerys. No, no, no. No.”

Wow. What happened to women supporting each other? A strong, independent leader — and a single mother! — makes one little mistake, burns down one teeny-tiny city that had just surrendered to her, and gender-traitors like Elizabeth Warren turn on her?

Real women support each other when they fly around on napalm-blasting monsters and kill other women. They don’t sit there and say, “What about her mass-murders, hurr durr!”

I’ll bet Warren cheered when a man finally killed Dany. Hooray for the patriarchy, eh, Liz? You might as well get it over with and put on a MAGA hat!

P.S. What did I think about the GoT finale? I’m glad you didn’t ask. It was… okay. It didn’t really make much sense, but it’s been years since the show made much sense. I haven’t cared about any of those idiots ever since the best, most qualified candidate was robbed — R.I.P. Littlefinger — so I was just rooting for as many casualties as possible. I’m even fine with creepy, useless Bran being made king. Hell, they could’ve coronated Hot Pie and I’d be like, “At least it’s not Dany or Jon.” The show started off as a thoughtful rumination on the limits of honor and the corrosiveness of power, and it degenerated into lazy fan-fiction about the Starks winning every time because they’re the heroes. I’m just glad it’s over.
