Kirsten Gillibrand might be her generation’s answer to Hillary Clinton, at least in terms of sincerity, relatability, and likability. (Sorry to be so blunt, senator!) But I don’t think even Hilldog herself could achieve the level of openly pandering cluelessness you’re about to see.
David Rutz, Washington Free Beacon:
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) appears to not know what the word “banging” means when used in the context of describing something positively.
For their Showtime talk show Desus & Mero, hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero visited the 2020 presidential hopeful at her home in Troy, New York. In a pre-taped segment airing Thursday, she made the pair omelettes and revealed they were the first members of the media for whom she’d cooked.
That’s when this happened:
DESUS: What if the breakfast you make is so banging, everyone wants to come up here?

But wait, there’s more!

[insert “cringe” GIF here]
This kind of stuff is nothing new, of course. Pandering is as American as apple pie-flavored vape juice. Obama “slow-jammed the news” with Jimmy Fallon, Bill Clinton proved how cool he was by playing saxophone on The Arsenio Hall Show, and Abraham Lincoln is widely credited with inventing the keg stand.* Gillibrand stinks at this sort of retail politics, but she’s polling at near-de Blasio levels and has nothing to lose.
Given Sen. Gillibrand’s outreach effort to the African-American community and her recent proposal to stop the opioid epidemic, she should do a cover of this hip-hop classic:
Word up! Or whatever the young people are saying now. Lit? Is she lit? That’s good, right?
*Just kidding.**
**Probably.
