Well, would you look at that?
Just a few hours ago I wrote about Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) endorsing Donald Trump for the 2024 Election, which in turn spurred rumors he's a potential candidate for Trump's running mate and Vice President.
He is one of many possible choices including Kari Lake, who is running for senator in Arizona, Governors Kristi Noem (R-SD) and Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AK), Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and recent rival-turned-ally Vivek Ramaswamy.
Right after, my friend Matt wrote about how Trump's base has been vocally opposed to Nikki Haley as an option for running mate/Vice President, yet if he picked her, they will nevertheless rationalize it.
The reason explained for Trump to pick Haley made sense in that she could potentially pull moderates into the Trump camp, thereby boosting his chances in the general election.
For Our VIPs: Will MAGA Care Who Trump Picks as His Running Mate?
And now we can officially strike her name off the list.
During a campaign speech in Concord, New Hampshire, Trump just said this:

If you cannot see the tweet, Trump said, "All you need to know about Nikki Haley is that every corrupt and sinister group we've been fighting for the past seven years is on her side."
Trump dispels rumors of a Nikki Haley VP pick at rally— saying she is "not Presidential timber":

"That probably means that she's not gonna be chosen as the Vice President."

Additionally, he said that Haley is "not presidential timber, and that probably means she is not going to be chosen as the Vice President."
Seems like a pretty solid answer to me.
Of course, some might argue because Trump said "probably" means she might not fully be out of consideration, but what good would it serve Trump to lead people on like that?
Yes, I am aware Trump lied about Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) being Fauci's "Number 1 fan," and yes, I also condemn him doing it for political clout.
However, such a lie has made no real impact on how his campaign will turn out. This does not mean I excuse the lie, rather it is simply an observation that nobody is prominently demanding he retract such a glaringly false statement.
Lying about not picking Haley for VP only to do it later likely will.
I don't know if Trump's most committed supporters will ever truly turn on him, but he would definitely lose support by pulling the rug out from under a lot of people by picking Haley as running mate/VP after strongly implying he would not.
Ultimately, however, if Trump becomes the nominee, I will gladly vote for him in the general because too much is currently at stake. Once we know for sure that America will survive at least four more years, then we can criticize everything he did on the campaign trail.
And besides, since Trump winning 2024 will be his second term, we will not have to put up with his primary antics again in 2028. Of course, he is a hilarious speaker and he drives leftists made like no other, but eventually, we will have to move on from him because there are plenty of good Republicans suited to carry on what he started.
Now we know with a fair degree of certainty that Nikki Haley is not one of them.
I kind of wish I bet Matt money because I'd be a few bucks richer right now.
