“Duck Dynasty” Star Phil Robertson endorsed Texas Senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruz in a hilarious Facebook video called “Cruz Commander” on Wednesday. Robertson, the “Duck Commander,” called Cruz “one of us” and showed footage of the candidate dressed in camouflage taking aim at a duck.
“My qualifications for President of the United States are rather narrow,” Robertson declares in famous Louisiana twang. “Is he or she Godly? Does he or she love us? Can he or she do the job? And finally, would they kill a duck and put ’em in a pot and make a good duck gumbo?”
When it comes to Ted Cruz, that’s check, check, check. “Ted Cruz is my man,” Robertson says. “He’s Godly, he loves us, he’s the man for the job, and he will go duck huntin’, because today we’re going!”
The ad then cuts to Cruz in camo with a blackened face, taking aim at a flying duck. Robertson turns to him and says: “Cruz, the reason we’re going to vote for you—all of us—is because you’re one of us, my man….It’s now or never.”
