Intel Capital To Invest $20M In Solar Venture

Intel Capital has announced its first “clean-tech” investment in China – a $20M investment in one of that nation’s leading solar and wind power equipment makers. Even with the slumping economy, Intel Capital says it has ” no plans to slow down our investment pace”.  Intel established its $500M China Technology Fund II in April on the heels of the company’s initial $200M China investment. It’s unclear if Intel will be selling tech or materials to its new China partners from the company’s new SpectraWatt solar cell manufacturing facility, due to come on line in mid-2009.
