The rocket hurled toward space, a giant Google logo plastered on its side. GeoEye has successfully launched its latest imaging satellite this weekend, and Google will be one of the biggest customers for the high-resolution photos. The satellite, which will circle at about 400 miles above earth, is expected to return clear, identifiable pictures of objects as small as 16 inches–about the size of home plate on a baseball diamond. A Google spokesperson said it was the goal of the company to “display high resolution imagery for as much of the world as possible.” Including your back yard.
