Layers and layers of editors and fact checkers in action: perhaps it’s an example of chaos theory: Nicholas Kristof drops his middle initial, and like a butterfly’s flapping wings causing massive changes throughout the world, or the errant fly that sets in motion the events of Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, calamity ensues — even more so than usual — at the New York Times.
