Maybe This Is What Gore Meant By "The Assault On Reason"

In any case, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) is certainly a hands-on guy when it comes to reporters:

In another news from as Nancy Pelosi once put, "the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history", "Another week, another Rangel probe", but a probe on ACORN gets squashed. Glenn Reynolds writes:

Why? “The powers that be decided against it,” says Conyers. I’m sure they did. . . .

UPDATE: Reader Jim O’Neill writes:

From your current front page:

MONICA CONYERS GUILTY OF BRIBERY CONSPIRACY CHARGES, faces up to five years. Her husband is Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).

“CULTURE OF CORRUPTION” UPDATE: Conyers abandons plan to probe ACORN. Why? “The powers that be decided against it,” says Conyers. I’m sure they did. . . .

Gee, do I see a narrative here? What deal did they offer Conyers to play ball? Or what threat, I should ask?

Hmm. This is the sort of thing a free, independent watchdog press would look into, if we had such a thing . . . .

Exactly.

By the way, I thought that John Conyers is one of "the powers that be", but then that would be along the lines of Barbara Boxer "speaking truth to power", I guess. It's amazing how powerless otherwise powerful Congressmen and Senators can become when it suits their purposes.

Update: I'm not a pro wrestling fan, but I'd sign up to watch this slugfest on pay per view.
