That was Then; This is Now

Then: “Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history,” Nancy Pelosi insisted in November of 2006 on the eve of becoming Speaker of the House.

Now: Minority Leader Pelosi “declines to call for Weiner’s resignation,” AP reports today.

(And why should she, considering that Maxine Waters and Charlie Rangel are both still happily in office?)

Then: “The Buck Stops Here,” Harry Truman famously said.

As Jim Treacher writes, “NYT, WaPo give up even pretending to be news organizations — They’re an opposition research arm of the Democratic Party.”

Exactly. Or call them the non-official campaign wing of the Obama Administration. I mean, that’s what they call themselves in-house, and it helps to keep the terminology consistent.
