In Hollywood they say if you’re going to make a successful sequel, you have to push things just a little further, take maybe a few more risks, than the original. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, it’s gangbusters (cf. the more violent, yet more sophisticated, The Godfather Part II).
But have no fear, coming soon to a theater near you if (Heaven forbid and it may) Hillary Clinton is elected is Nixon II—the blockbuster of all time. The logline reads: And you thought Watergate was big!
Don’t take my word for it. Take Bob Woodward’s, Mr. Watergate himself, who recently declared: “The Clinton Foundation is corrupt. It’s a scandal.”
Corrupt indeed. It dwarfs Watergate by a stratospheric amount.
The Clinton Foundation itself — we’re not even talking about her ladyship’s server that we now learn the FBI is 99% percent sure was hacked into by as many as five intelligence agencies — is apparently under an unheard of five different FBI investigations (I guess five is her ladyship’s unlucky number), making this sequel an international extravaganza with locations from Qatar to Port-au-Prince to Moscow and back, not to mention (natch!) the Virgin Islands, with the security of the entire West and Putin’s uranium thrown in. James Bond meets Seven Days in May. And the amounts of money involved are Goldfinger-sized.
Of course, this is assuming the Department of Justice under Mrs. Clinton allows those investigations (and others like it) to be completed in a fair and honest manner, an assumption about which one could easily be skeptical, if not outright cynical.
And if they don’t?
Ah, but here’s where our sequel bursts off the screen and is no longer “just a movie,” turning Nixon II into a real-life adventure that will affect every citizen in this country and a good portion of the Western world with it.
And, I’m sorry to say, it’s much better to be watching a movie, popcorn and Bloomberg-insulting gonzo soda in hand, than participating in a mass action out of an imaginary Hieronymus Bosch painting of the Battle of Antietam, but that’s what we will be doing.
Impeachment will be the least of it. Massive forces have aligned against each other in this country. It is not so much a right-left, Republican-Democrat battle as a class battle, the workers—what used to be called the middles class—against the elites.
The elites pretend they are the tribunes of the poor, but you will have to excuse me if I am again skeptical. The poor, blacks especially, are at some point going to be fed up with having been gaslit by these elites and may not play ball with them in crunch time. All kinds of splits could take place—and surprising ones.
But, like it or not, the USA is on the edge of violence. The center is not holding.
I have to admit I am surprised to be writing in such an apocalyptic manner. I never, until this year, so much as thought this way in my most casual musings. I lived through Watergate, Vietnam, the Iraq War, all of it, never even dreaming our society could truly explode. But now it can.
Some people are blaming the candidacy of Donald Trump. But for good or ill, Trump is but a symptom of the obvious fact that the working class has been screwed by the elites of this country for decades to such a degree it makes this explosion almost inevitable.
The real culprit is the Democratic Party for nominating someone so corrupt she brings to mind the Medici and the Borgias. In many ways she’s worse than both, if I am to believe some of the chatter I read on the Internet concerning the NYPD and the contents of Weiner’s computer that I don’t dare link for fear of being thought a crackpot.
But these days much of what the crackpots say is being proven true by WikiLeaks and others. So a special shout-out to my old buddy Steve Pieczenik, whose explosive video about an intell war at the top levels of our government seems to be taking the world by storm. I know Steve, but it’s been awhile and I can’t vouch for the contents. Still, he never lied to me that I know of.
