For those concerned above all with what’s left of the rule of law in our republic, the most important dispatch of this nauseating campaign season has been Fox News’ “FBI, DOJ roiled by Comey, Lynch decision to let Clinton slide by on emails, says insider.”
Many of you may have read the first few paragraphs of this article before, but they’re worth reading again for purposes of discussion:
The decision to let Hillary Clinton off the hook for mishandling classified information has roiled the FBI and Department of Justice, with one person closely involved in the year-long probe telling FoxNews.com that career agents and attorneys on the case unanimously believed the Democratic presidential nominee should have been charged.
The source, who spoke to FoxNews.com on the condition of anonymity, said FBI Director James Comey’s dramatic July 5 announcement that he would not recommend to the Attorney General’s office that the former secretary of state be charged left members of the investigative team dismayed and disgusted. More than 100 FBI agents and analysts worked around the clock with six attorneys from the DOJ’s National Security Division, Counter Espionage Section, to investigate the case.
“No trial level attorney agreed, no agent working the case agreed, with the decision not to prosecute — it was a top-down decision,” said the source, whose identity and role in the case has been verified by FoxNews.com.

A high-ranking FBI official told Fox News that while it might not have been a unanimous decision, “It was unanimous that we all wanted her [Clinton’s] security clearance yanked.”
“It is safe to say the vast majority felt she should be prosecuted,” the senior FBI official told Fox News. “We were floored while listening to the FBI briefing because Comey laid it all out, and then said ‘but we are doing nothing,’ which made no sense to us.”
So one anonymous insider said it was unanimous that Hillary should be prosecuted and a “high-ranking official” said the “vast majority” felt that way. Whichever is accurate, there were more than a hundred agents and analysts working with six lawyers on the case, but let’s round that off to an even 100.
What’re we to do about all those agents, analysts and lawyers who are not allowed to speak their minds and tell the American public they serve what they think about what happened?
It’s not the Chicago 7 who need to be freed this time. The situation has flipped. It’s the forces of law and order — the FBI 100.
So… Free the FBI 100, I say! For the sake of our country, let’s get to the bottom of this. Otherwise there will be a stain on our justice system that will not go away in any of our lifetimes, a stain that is bound to spread into many aspects of our culture, making it unrecognizable.
But how to do that? Those same people, those agents and lawyers, have families like the rest of us. They have mortgages, exorbitant college tuitions to pay. And they work for the government — the Federal Bureau of freaking Investigation. Naturally they are afraid to open their mouths. That a couple of them are already speaking out, even under deep cover, is almost miraculous and a testament to the great discontent they feel.
They need support, badly, from the outside, what the Israelis call proteksia. One possibility is for some courageous and successful person or persons of good — we could call it “right” — character to offer them serious jobs if they resign from the FBI and talk. All it will take is a couple of people coming out, maybe even only one brave soul, and I suspect it will start a flood. And the duplicities and prevarications inherent in this investigation are so many that that flood could go on for a long time and engulf our society, this time in a beneficial way.
Yes, I know Director Comey made them all sign NDAs when they went to work on the case — we know why now, don’t we? — but I think the American public will be with these people if they tell the truth. That NDA can be made to sound so totally criminal (which it is, totalitarian in method, actually) and a campaign launched to discredit the NDA, which was obviously intended to squelch the inevitable anger at a fraudulent investigation with its predetermined “top-down decision.”
It’s tempting to be cynical, to assume that we are so far into our own version of a Soviet system that we can never get out. But as the Brit said, “Never give up!” The way things are going, it seems that for the first time in our history, the real election may occur after the legal one. That second real one can be won if we try. The first step is to Free the FBI 100!
