Police in Malaysia have quashed rumors that a very bizarre cat-like creature with a human head has been discovered in a remote region after videos and photographs of the beast went viral online.

Video footage reportedly taken in the Pahang area of western Malaysia shows a pink-skinned creature with four limbs, sharp claws, a human-like head, and two long fangs. Posts on social media claimed that the thing, which always seems to have its eyes closed, “was being held in a laboratory at an unidentified location.”

According to the Daily Mirror, state police chief Datuk Rosli Abdul Rahman threw cold water on the alleged find, saying that the photographs are “untrue.” Apparently, the images of the alleged human-cat hybrid had created quite a stir in Malaysia.

Rahman explained the fakery: “Checks revealed the images were downloaded from the internet before it was shared on social media, claiming that the discovery was made in Pahang.”

He added: “I hope the public will stop circulating news about the alleged discovery.”

The pictures are thought to be a variation of the “silicon baby werewolf’” toy, which is sold online.

Police say no actual sightings of the supposed creature beyond the online images have been reported.

In other words, it was all an elaborate hoax.
