It's summer, which means climate alarmists are of course wailing about heat, as if every year it were an astounding surprise that summer is uncomfortably warm. But the reality is that America is not experiencing a catastrophic heat wave this year, nor last year, nor the year before that. Temperatures have been relatively stable except a short period in the early 20th century since about 1895.
The Heartland Institute's Justin Haskins helpfully provided data through 2021 on heat waves over time. Summer temperatures fluctuated to some extent, but nowhere near what climate alarmists have been claiming for the last five—or make that 60—years. Instead of average temperatures shooting up over the last six or seven decades, they have remained on a predictably modest up-and-down wiggle.
The weather is getting warmer and climate alarmists are once again starting to scream about how climate change is causing heat waves to become more frequent and extreme.

But what does the data show? Facts are stubborn things. pic.twitter.com/1Xl4IYytfy
Junk Science's Steve Milloy also had data that brings us up to summer 2026, showing how the idea of average global temperature is bunk:
Climate hoax breakdown: It may be 'even' warmer in Europe today vs. yesterday but it is 'even' cooler globally today vs. yesterday. https://t.co/9W1wRJckPdhttps://t.co/fqRVG3Stv7 pic.twitter.com/lsppuH5eF8

Climate alarmists have been wrong about every single major prediction for more than half a century. Not only that, they also demonize carbon, which is the building block of life, and warming temperatures, which are beneficial for ecosystems. When the weather is hot, alarmists shriek about global warming, and when it's cold, they wail about extreme weather. When there's more thunderstorms, they say man-made climate change is to blame for natural disasters, and when the weather is dryer, they run around bewailing dangerous drought.
And yet when we study history, we see that temperatures around the world have always fluctuated, sometimes very dramatically. There are droughts and hurricanes, tornados and tsunamis, ice ages and heat waves. The nature of weather is that it changes. And giving up our SUVs, hamburgers, and ACs is not going to stop that pattern.

Every year, my weather app assures me what I know from my own experience is a lie — that the temperatures in southern Arizona are consistently three or four or six degrees above average. If this were true as often as they have asserted it and for as many years as they have been claiming it, temperatures here would be up to well over 150°F every day by now. Except they're not, and in Arizona, temperatures over 100°F from June through August are entirely normal. In fact, this year, the weather stayed nice much longer than usual, into the first week of June. And yet the media and the meteorologists keep screeching that Arizona is about to burn up from a horrible heat wave. It’s all propaganda.
Don't freak out about the "heat wave" that is causing such furor in leftist media. It might be hotter this year than last year in some areas on Earth, but the opposite is true in other areas. And in the United States, we're not seeing anywhere near the sort of spike that alarmists want you to believe is existentially threatening us all.
