There are days when I have to triple-check that a story is true, because it seems so preposterous I at first believe it has to come from a satire site. But no, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) actually did issue a protest against the federal indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) regarding payments to… the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) indicted the SPLC for fraud related to secretive payments running into the millions for white supremacists and other extremists. The NAACP claims to focus on ending racial inequality and violent prejudice, and yet it was outraged at this punishment of fraudulent funding for white supremacists. “The DOJ's indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center is a chilling attack on civil rights advocacy,” the group shrilled. Apparently giving cash to KKK leaders advances racial equality.
NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson solemnly pronounced, “Trump's DOJ has been weaponized by dangerous forces. Every organization and individual engaged in social justice should be alarmed. What we are seeing in real time is an administration seeking to leverage its position to target individuals and organizations that do not agree with its political thought." There is so much irony in the NAACP protesting an indictment that literally completely aligns with their stated purpose that no words can sufficiently express how stupid it is.
Of course, the NAACP has long ago fallen away from its original purpose, and has disgraced such heroic early members as Medgar Evers. Right now, its top press releases and articles on its website include protests against the DOJ's efforts to remove illegal aliens and dead people from voter rolls, alongside extreme anti-ICE rhetoric.

If there were anything that could possibly illustrate clearly, however, that the NAACP is dedicated only to woke ideology and not in any way to racial equality, it is this pathetic statement protesting the DOJ's indictment of the SPLC.
What a disgrace the NAACP is now. I mentioned Medgar Evers above, the first Mississippi field secretary for the organization, and one of the American heroes whose story deserves more attention. Evers was a zealous and effective civil rights leader, so much so that a white supremacist assassinated him in his own driveway in 1963. Only six decades later, the NAACP is defending criminal payouts to white supremacists. What an insane mental drug wokeism is.
As a particularly ironic touch, the NAACP's Johnson in 2017 commented on the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, condemning white supremacists chanted antisemitic slogans, "The blatant racism on display in Charlottesville is absolutely disgusting. It’s hard to believe that in 2017 we are still plagued by so much race-based hatred. The NAACP will always stand against hate and any persons who threaten the moral right of our community." The DOJ has now revealed that the SPLC not only paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to someone who helped plan and orchestrate that rally, but the individual specifically put out racist messages under the SPLC's watch. But the NAACP is on the SPLC's side.
