From the time of Andrew Jackson onwards, Democrats have made a practice of accusing their opponents of the very moral failures and crimes that hey commit themselves. And the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Kamala Harris are no exceptions.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted the SPLC on fraud charges for secretively funneling millions of dollars to extremist and white supremacist groups. The funding of members from such groups as the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nations, and the American Front is particularly significant in light of the fact that the SPLC’s government influence and financial success depend heavily on its perpetual rhetoric about racism. It’s not merely the SPLC that is hypocritical on this point, of course. The Democrats who have received SPLC endorsements also share in the blame, including Kamala.
During the September 2024 presidential debate, Democrat candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris sneered, "Let's remember Charlottesville, where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches spewing antisemitic hate. And what did the president then, at the time, say? there were 'fine people' on each side."

The real story behind the hoax Harris repeated was that, in 2017, a "Unite the Right" rally to oppose removal of a statue of Confederate commander and war criminal Robert E. Lee ended up attracting a group of white supremacists who chanted anti-Jewish slogans. After the incident, Trump referred to the unending argument over Confederacy v. Union by saying there were "very fine people" who supported both sides. Whether you agree with him or not, whether you think he should have expressed more nuance or not, Trump was not endorsing violence, nor was he even referring to the white supremacists who showed up at the protest. The Democrat outrage was completely unjustified.

What makes Kamala's self-righteous accusation particularly ironic is that at the time of the presidential debate, she had recently secured the endorsement of the SPLC. Margaret Huang, president and CEO of the SPLC Action Fund, praised Joe Biden's supposed actions for "racial justice" and expressed confidence in Harris's commitment to the same.
And thanks to the DOJ indictment, we now know that part of the fraudulent SPLC money-funneling to extremist groups included over $270,000 to a "Unite the Right" member. Or, as The Daily Signal's Tony Kinnett observed above, one might say that Kamala secured the endorsement of the organization that funded a member of the very group she so energetically criticized Trump for supposedly defending.
To top off the irony, we might also note that the Confederates were in fact the Democrats. The Civil War began when Democrat states voted to secede from the Union over the mere election of anti-slavery Republican Abraham Lincoln to office. As the SPLC funded white supremacists while gaining governmental and media influence through decrying racism, the Democrat-Confederates of the 19th century launched a war to preserve slavery while lecturing about freedom. If there's one thing that's always true, it's that Democrats are liars and race-baiters.
