Qatar Joins War on Iran, a Radical Shift in the Middle East

Both the Qatari and Iranian regimes have long been major state sponsors of terrorism, and up until very recently, they were on good terms and even strengthening their ties. But the Qataris are so enraged at the Iranian regime firing on them that Qatar has officially joined the war against Iran on the same side as the United States and Israel. And the fact that Qatar is even willing to be on the same side of a conflict as Israel really is historic.

It would be highly unrealistic to say that Qatar is likely to stop hating Israel and sponsoring terror groups that attack it, like Hamas and Hezbollah — Islamist ideologues almost never give up their murderous ideology like that — but we are witnessing a shocking historical moment. Multiple European nations, including France and Spain, have explicitly sided against the United States in the war with the terrorist Iranian regime, and yet several Muslim dictatorships, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, are on the side of America.

We hope, of course, that the result of this conflict will be that a regime favorable to America and Israel will take over in Iran, perhaps under the rule of the exiled crown prince whom so many Iranian protesters support. But whatever the result, it is certain that the Middle East alliances are shifting; whether temporarily or permanently, it remains to be seen.

Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform shared a Human Events article announcing Qatar’s entrance into the conflict with Iran:

Qatar has entered the war on the side of the US.

In a statement dated March 2, 2026, the [Defense] Ministry announced that the Qatar Emiri Air Force “successfully shot down two (SU24) aircraft coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran.” It also said air defenses “successfully intercepted (7) ballistic missiles” and stopped “(5) drones” that had targeted several areas in the country.

Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have also aligned themselves with the United States after Iran fired on those nations, although tragically, paranoid Kuwaiti forces shot down no fewer than three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles. Fortunately, all of our men survived, although we lost several expensive fighter jets.

Fox News national correspondent Jennifer Griffin announced live on Saturday afternoon, “We're just getting word that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia says they will join the U.S. in the operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” It is not clear if Saudi Arabia has actually engaged in active fighting back against the Iranian regime, however. The Saudi foreign minister summoned the Iranian ambassador on Monday after the Iranian regime hit a Saudi refinery, according to The Indian Express.

It will be interesting to see how Western defenders of Iran and lovers of Qatar like Tucker Carlson, Cenk Uygur, Candace Owens, and numerous Democrat congressmen will react to Qatari forces actively participating in the conflict against Iran.

As always, we pray for our troops and all innocent civilians in harm’s way during this necessary but deadly conflict.
