Even as the Department of Homeland Security announced a 1,153% increase in the number of assaults on ICE officers this year, Democrats are doubling down on the lies that fuel the violence.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, and other Democrats constantly scream about the supposed tyranny and cruelty of ICE raids. Citizens and legal aliens in their cities and states then take that as permission and encouragement to terrorize federal officers. And the fact that Democrats keep ramping up the rhetoric as the violence grows worse illustrates that they actually do want federal law enforcement to be injured and even killed.
Between Jan. 21 and Nov. 21 last year, there were 19 assaults on ICE, according to newly released DHS data. During the same period this year, there were 238 assaults. The cycle is always the same — Democrats label ICE the new Gestapo or slave patrols, domestic terrorists mob ICE, the terrorists and illegal alien criminals are arrested, and leftist media immediately label the latter victims. This is the new and unimproved Jim Crow/KKK of Democrats’ previous era.

And leftists certainly aren’t in the least penitent. For example, The New Yorker wailed on Nov. 24, “Orville Etoria, a Jamaican national who’d lived in New York for nearly 50 years, was shackled and put on an ICE flight to Eswatini. ‘It helped me imagine how the slaves might have felt, going to another land in shackles and chains,’ he said.” This noble victim of the new slavery is, according to Fox News’ Bill Melugin, “a convicted murderer with a deportation order from a federal immigration judge.”
Meanwhile, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick is screeching that enforcing immigration law is a “civil issue” and that enforcing “civil law” is outside her purview. Because apparently federal crimes that affect her local citizens every day aren’t a problem.

Rep. Alma Adams (D-N.C.) recently screamed that ICE was “inhumane” as federal officers arrested assaulters, rapists, burglars, and gang members in Charlotte. In response to the backlash from North Carolina Democrats, Rep. Pat Harrigan (R-N.C.) expressed frustration at how willfully ignorant leftists in his state seem to be about how the Biden administration allowed in at some 14 million illegals, and how illegal alien crime more than doubled between 2021 and 2023. Not to mention the fact that almost 60% of households headed by illegal aliens receive taxpayer-funded assistance.
Then there’s the New York Times’ sob story about the Guatemalan illegal who stole a hard-working U.S. citizen’s identity and saddled him with thousands of dollars in taxes:
