It’s beginning to look a lot like foreign propaganda, at every lefty outlet you go… WIRED hysterically declared that Donald Trump is the Grinch who stole Christmas because his tariffs on Chinese goods could make cheap, low-quality gifts produced through abusive or slave labor scarce or out of reach for the average American consumer. WIRED doesn’t seem to understand that it has identified the exact problem with being dependent on a hostile country’s abusive manufacturing.
If the United States had been heavily dependent on German manufacturing and medicine during World War II, how could we have won the war? Yet, though the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) openly avows its goals of undermining the United States, usurping its role as dominant world power, and even going to war with us if it deems necessary, American companies continue to invest in manufacturing, mining, and research controlled by China’s tyrannical government.
“Donald Trump Is Already Ruining Christmas,” WIRED sobbed Monday. “Santa’s helpers are freaking out that steep tariffs on Chinese imports will prevent toys, trees, and decorations from arriving in the US on time for the December holiday.” If this isn’t an advertisement for why we need to bring manufacturing back to America, I don’t know what is.
From factory employees in China stringing lights on artificial trees to dock workers unloading containers of toys, this vast labor force ensures Americans can choose from a wide selection of decorations and gifts each December. But all of that is in peril this year as President Donald Trump’s disruptive tariff policies threaten to halt a big chunk of global trade…
Companies that sell Christmas ornaments, gifts, and toys tell WIRED that April is usually the time when retailers lock in their orders and manufacturing begins. If they can’t start making products soon, they will face a time crunch later in the year, higher shipping rates, and may potentially miss their sales window.
It would be sad if some kids can’t get all the toys they wanted this year, but the fault wouldn’t be Trump’s; it would be the companies that are so enamored of cutting costs that they are willing to sell their souls for slave labor in a hostile foreign nation.
It is not just that American companies are complicit in Communist China’s human rights abuses by operating in the country. Foreign companies in China are required to host CCP cells and promote CCP policies and activities. Also, the CCP practices something called “civil-military fusion,” where everything in the economic and tech spheres must be accessible to the Chinese military.

The CCP’s Company Law, in its 2018 iteration, states:
Article 19 The Chinese Communist Party may, according to the Constitution of the Chinese Communist Party, establish its branches in companies to carry out activities of the Chinese Communist Party. The company shall provide necessary conditions to facilitate the activities of the Party.
Again, the CCP is history’s biggest mass murderer (with 500 million victims and counting), it runs the world’s worst surveillance and censorship state, and it continues to practice genocide and other atrocities. But American leftist media is on the CCP’s side. Notice that WIRED doesn’t seem equally worried about Chinese tariffs on American goods. The CEO of Learning Resources, who sued the Trump administration, babbled to WIRED about “our rights,” as if he has a right to un-tariffed goods from a hostile dictatorship. He doesn’t seem to care about the rights of either Chinese or American workers.
Trump’s tariffs are reportedly already slowing Chinese research, and that is a good thing. Now, American companies need to start moving manufacturing back to America and employing Americans instead of Chinese and Uyghur slaves. If they do, this Christmas we can look forward to a future that is merry and bright.
