Vulnerable Democrats Not Happy with Obama's 'Fix'

The Democrat senators whose seats are under the greatest threat from Obamacare next year are unhappy with the president’s proposed “fix.”

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) says in a press release that the president’s administrative fix is not enough.

I’m encouraged that the President took action today to stop the cancelation of insurance policies that Americans were promised they could retain. I was particularly happy to see the notification provision included, which is an important part of the bill I have filed. I will be working today and throughout the weeks ahead to support legislation to fix this problem.

Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) is claiming credit for Obama’s fix, while wanting something that does more, according to a press release on his website.

“I am glad the White House is starting to address my concerns and those of thousands of Colorado families that received insurance cancellation notices,” Udall said. “While I would prefer that these families receive a longer extension to keep their existing insurance policies and the greater certainty my legislation provides, I believe the president’s announcement is a step in the right direction toward providing robust healthcare coverage for Coloradans. We also should build on this progress by giving Americans more time to enroll after the federal website is fully functional.”

Landrieu’s legislative fix remains on track in the Senate, while the House may vote on Rep. Fred Upton’s bill tomorrow.
