Former SEAL Gabriel Gomez Launches Run for Senate in Massachusetts

Gabriel Gomez, a former SEAL turned investor, will run as a Republican for the US Senate in Massachusetts. Gomez will run for the seat that was vacated when Sen. John Kerry became Secretary of State. According to a statement released today, Gomez is running because politics as usual aren’t working.

“In my military career, at the U.S. Naval Academy, as a Navy aircraft carrier pilot, and as a Navy SEAL, I learned one thing above all else – serving others is more important than being served,” said Gomez.

“As I look at Washington I see a lot of unproductive noise and bickering, and I see two parties attacking each other at all times over every issue.  I see gridlock, I see a partisan atmosphere where very few are willing to work together.”

“I’m running because I refuse to be cynical about America or about America’s future. Certainly people will say, ‘this can’t be fixed,’” Gomez said.  “But sending career politicians to do the job would be the same old, same old. Our country is better than its politics. Let’s fix it.”

Gomez filed papers Monday and released this official announcement video and statement of his principles at the same time.

Gomez will run in the Republican primary against MA State Rep. Daniel Winslow, a former aide to then Gov. Mitt Romney.
