Vivian Schiller said NPR has been through a “very difficult” time in the past several months. That’s in part because of “the change in majority in the House,” she said.
“It’s a very difficult time with an incredible amount of scrutiny in what we do,” she said.
You get government money. You should be scrutinized. Of course, there is a very simple way to remove the scrutiny immediately. But Schiller predicts, with too much confidence, that that won’t happen.
Schiller predicted measures to defund NPR will not become law. “I don’t think federal dollars are going to go away for public broadcasting,” she said.
The measure would be “defeated handily in the Senate,” according to Schiller, but there could be some cuts.
She disdains the GOP House and is counting on the Democrat Senate, removing all remaining doubts that NPR’s top brass are partisans at heart.
