Anti-Fascists Plan Potluck Blitz to Raise 'Millions' to 'Compel Removal of the Trump/Pence Regime'

Anti-fascist activists are planning a weekend “blitz” including potlucks around the country in a “mass fundraising and organizing blitz to prepare for the kind of struggle needed to drive out the Trump/Pence regime.”

Refuse Fascism was launched in December 2016 by the Revolutionary Communist Party under chairman Bob Avakian in response to the election of Donald Trump; the group is not the same as the anarchist-affiliated Antifa movement. While protests of the latter often erupt into violence, the former group advocates nonviolent demonstrations.

Refuse Fascism has had contingents at the Women’s March and other anti-Trump protests. Five Refuse Fascism members were arrested for disrupting the confirmation hearing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Last October, members of the group confronted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over his opposition to players taking a knee during the national anthem.

The group says their four-day campaign Oct. 11-15 is intended to recruit new members, train new organizers, and promote “the only viable vision and plan to stop the nightmare of the Trump/Pence regime and to raise the funds to make the kind of struggle needed a reality.” Refuse Fascism estimates “it will take millions of dollars to accomplish our mission.”

Next Thursday is designated Student Day, while Oct. 12 the group will hold “mass fundraising/organizing potluck dinners” in various cities. That weekend is intended for an “organizing/fundraising blitz – spreading lawn-signs, posters, calls to action, massive fundraising, and more.”

Refuse Fascism details their plan: “Get in position at the soonest possible time to launch a sustained and growing movement of nonviolent political protests that start with many thousands and come back day after day, night after night, eventually growing to millions and not stopping until this demand is met: This nightmare must end: The Trump/Pence regime must go! Only through such a massive, nonstop, and growing nonviolent movement like this can we create the kind of political crisis that can compel the removal of the Trump/Pence regime.”

The group said they’re not focusing on midterm elections and see this as the only way to change power in the White House “because we are being ruled by a fascist regime which has spent nearly two years terrorizing Muslims and immigrants, encouraging violent white supremacy, eviscerating norms, remaking the courts, pouring gasoline on the fires of global climate change, escalating the threat of war – even possibly nuclear war  assailing the rights of women and LGBTQ people, and much more” and “this regime cannot be waited out, it will not be bound by traditional norms or the rule of law. It will continue to absorb separate acts of resistance and obstacles while barreling forward with its genocidal program until it is driven from power.”

Members are also being asked on their input on a slogan for their “mid-October push,” which is currently, “This Nightmare Must End: The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go. In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America.”
