Hillary Concert Series to Target Battleground States with Bon Jovi, J-Lo, Katy Perry

The Clinton campaign is hoping that a concert tour in the three weeks left before judgment day will help push battleground-state voters to the polls for Hillary.

The Love Trumps Hate Performance Series “will feature a number of artists who will energize our supporters and encourage them to turn out to vote on Election Day or to take advantage of early voting options in their states,” according to the Clinton campaign’s announcement.

The lineup begins with Jon Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry. The campaign said more performers would be announced in the coming days.

Perry has been an early supporter of Clinton and performed “Rise” and “Roar” at the Democratic National Convention in July. Other DNC performers included Paul Simon, Carole King, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.

Bon Jovi and Paul McCartney performed at a Clinton fundraiser in the Hamptons at the end of August, along with Jimmy Buffet. The trio closed out that show by performing “Hey Jude” together.

Lopez attended a June New York fundraiser for Hillary along with Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Clinton camp said the performance series, with dates and locations to be announced, “will also serve as organizing opportunities to recruit new volunteers for the final stretch of the campaign so more Americans can encourage their friends and neighbors to join the millions of Americans who will vote in this year’s election.”

“In the final weeks of the campaign, what voters will hear from these performers and all HFA surrogates is that Hillary Clinton has the experience and steadiness to bring people together and get real results,” the campaign release continued. “The choice in this election is clear. We can either come together to tackle the big challenges facing the country or let Donald Trump keep tearing us apart with his divisive rhetoric and dangerous ideas. That’s why millions of people are coming together to support Hillary Clinton and send a clear message that ‘love trumps hate.’”

Last week, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) hosted a Dave Matthews concert in Denver to rally voters there. On Oct. 9, John Legend held a millennial registration event and concert in his home state, Ohio.
