MLB bans players from writing Bible verses on Pride™ paraphernalia
After several members of the San Francisco Giants appeared at last Friday’s game wearing hats etched with Bible verses alongside the Pride™ colors overlaid onto the classic team logo, Major League Baseball declared that displays of sacrilege against the de facto California state religion of Pride™ will not be tolerated in liberal and loving San Francisco.

After three San Francisco Giants pitchers appeared in Friday’s game with Bible verses written on their Pride Night caps, Major League Baseball issued a warning that similar behavior will not be tolerated.
“The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations,” Pat Courtney, MLB’s chief communications officer, told The Athletic…
Giants right-hander Landen Roupp started the game with “Gen 9:12-16” written on his cap, with the end of the verse bleeding into the rainbow “SF” logo. Relievers JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker also had Bible verses on their caps, while Sam Hentges came out of the bullpen with the Giants’ standard black cap with an orange logo rather than the Pride Night hat.
“It’s just about God’s covenant and a promise that he makes to us that, you know, his faithfulness and his mercy,” Roupp told reporters when asked about the Bible passage. “That’s just kind of something I believe in, and I stand firm in that, and I’m thankful we live in a country where, you know, we have the freedom to believe what we want … and express what we want.”…
The Giants were the first professional sports team to host a game that raised awareness and money for the HIV/AIDS epidemic with “Until There’s a Cure Day”* in 1994. And in 2021, they became the first team to incorporate the rainbow colorway on their on-field caps for their annual Pride game.
*There might not be a cure to this day, but there’s certainly a bunch of prophylactic measures: not engaging in anal intercourse in men’s bathhouses in downtown San Francisco, for one.

Frankly, given the city in question, I’m surprised the team hasn’t yet mandated that the players take the field in full-on drag, complete with prosthetic breasts, for the entire month of June.
Groomer extraordinaire and current congressional candidate Scott Wiener, a common and recurring subject of commentary here in the Sodom and Gomorrica canon due to his fathomless degeneracy, appeared to suggest the team fire the players involved in the hate crime:
Last night wasn’t just Pride Night. It was also the 10th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub massacre, when 49 people were mass murdered. To be clear, these players could have cited the rainbow bible verse on any of the other 364 days of the year. Instead, they chose to cite it only on Pride Night & only in connection with the rainbow Giants logo celebrating our LGBTQ community. There’s only one explanation for that choice — a choice the Giants tolerated. It’s hard to envision the Giants tolerating this kind of behavior directed at any other community. The Giants can & must do better.
The @SFGiants have a long history of supporting our large & vibrant LGBTQ community, even when it hasn’t always been popular. It’s one of the many reasons I’m proud of the team.
