With a seething smugness only seen in pampered elite minorities, Sonny Hostin explains to the wine moms who watch The View that, actually, Africans invented Greek culture and, therefore, anyone who claims Helen of Troy wasn’t sub-Saharan is ignorant of history:
This idea was also explored in a book called Black Athena. I think people should read it, which argues that classical Greek culture is heavily indebted to Afro-Asiatic and Near Eastern roots. I actually taught Greek pathology* to eighth graders and so I covered this. So people that are saying that Helen of Troy could not possibly be played by a black woman don't know history.

Here is Hostin, great defender of African culture and ardent reparations activist, last year, after discovering through genealogy research that she is descended from Spanish slavers, grappling with the cognitive dissonance that has overtaken her faculties, explaining that her learning of her family’s slaving practices was personally “enriching.”

‘Europe was black and then there was a great ethnic cleansing’
We’ve all heard the neoliberal fairy tale popular among urban Americans that individual icons of Western civilization were actually Africans — Beethoven, Shakespeare, et al.**
(**It’s interesting that none of the popular villains of Western civilization — Mussolini, Goebbels, whoever — are ever revisionized into proud Black men; it’s always the heroes. Weird how that works.)

Anyway, this lady takes the Great Black Man of Western History theory and injects it with steroids: the entire European continent was actually peopled by proud Africans until some point in censored history when the evil white man genocided them all and covered up his crimes.

I have no idea what dark corner of Black Twitter this lady got this theory from; what I know for sure is that the governing authorities love it.
Of course, if sub-Saharan Africans had any written language tradition to speak of, they could have contemporaneously documented this great hidden crime by the white man.
But they didn’t.
So we’re left with the literary fruits of the printing press to rely on, ostensibly invented in Europe but probably yet another invention stolen from the Proud Black Man.
Isn’t it curious that individuals of African descent, who would otherwise lampoon the white race and “whiteness” as inherently evil, predatory, diseased, etc., are so very eager to co-opt and insert themselves into white history?

As we have learned, thanks to the diligent research of Black Twitter rogue archivists, every historical civilization (at least the good ones) and their respective populations were originally somehow populated by Africans. Even the Orient doesn’t get a pass.
